Michael E. Cannon, M.D. is a graduate of the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. He completed his Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Cannon is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and has a subspecialty certification in Gastroenterology. In addition, he is a member of several national, regional and local professional organizations.
Dr. Cannon’s areas of expertise within Gastroenterology include advanced therapeutic endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound. He has a large regional referral base in endoscopic ultrasound as well as pancreatic and biliary endoscopy, two very important techniques utilized in the diagnosis and management of digestive cancers. He also has a very active practice in gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis). Dr. Cannon has given several lectures regarding these common digestive diseases throughout the Metro Detroit area, and still remains active in medical research. He has resided and trained in the area his entire life and has a strong commitment to the welfare and medical care of the people in the community.
